RELIGION (4A and 4B):
Chapter 9: Worshipping God, pages 112-121; recognizing the importance of God in our lives; learning the first 3 Commandments; finding ways to show respect and reverence for God; identifying ways to follow the first 3 Commandments. Chapter 9 Test on Friday, January 9.
SOCIAL STUDIES (4A and 4B):
Chapter 6, Lesson 1, pages 199-205: understanding the importance of farming to the early economy of the Southeast and Gulf region; recognizing how the economies of the North and South contributed to the causes of the Civil War.
READING:
'Twisted Trails' pages 362-366; making judgements and decisions; reading diagrams; identifying author's purpose and point of view; using context clues. Vocabulary and Story Test is on Friday, January 9. Definitions to be studied will be in copybooks.
PLEASE NOTE: Before Christmas, your student received the directions and rubric for the second major Book Report. It will be due in February. Also, December's Reading Calendars are due NOW.
SPELLING:
List #15: Words from the Arts; This week's Homework is: Monday: each word written neatly 2 times in copybook; Tuesday: use 10 words in 5 to 10 good sentences in copybook; list words in each sentence should be underlined with a red pen and ruler.
Test #15 is on Friday, January 9.
LANGUAGE ARTS:
Main verbs and helping verbs, pages 182-185; linking verbs, pages 186-189; irregular verbs, pages 190-191.

OTHER:
~Beginning Monday, January 12, French will be taught to grades K-5. We will have our lessons on Mondays every week.
~Scholastic Book orders will be sent home this week. Orders are due back by January 16.
~Friday, January 9: Dress Down Day, 50-cent donation, please.
